Night Cruise on The Maid of the Forth

Updated: May 17, 2023

Been meaning to write this one up for a while as took this cruise - 3 HOUR EVENING SCOTTISH FOLK MUSIC on the Maid of the Forth boat at the end of August.

Had seen the evening cruises for a while but this was the first chance to try it out ;).

They do a few different types of adventures including a landing at Inchcolme Island which i had done previously and is great to have a little picnic on a decent day on the island although for me the 1.5hr landing is more than adequate. (There is also a 3hrs landing).

Anyway this evening cruise was a respectful £23 which i thought was a decent price considering its a 3hr trip. I did however ordered the only meal available being a steak sandwich with some salad and crisps which was £8ea.

If you want to explore all trip's available you can follow the link below.

The boat leaves South Queensferry and makes it down towards Inchcolme Island , with views of the bridges and Fife as we start the initial journey.

Catching some Seal's along the way :)

Then coming around Inchcolme island which house Inchcolme Abbey which is still being used for wedding's. Nice beach to enjoy when the weather is being kind and other areas to explore around the island inc a Sea bird Colony.

By now the sun is going down and we return to the light's of the 3 bridges crossing over to North Queensferry and heading into the kingdom of Fife. Forth Rail bridge , Forth Road bridge and the newest additional the Queesferry Crossing.

Before returning back to base . Overall i lovely calm night with a surprisingly half empty boat made it a great little night out. Well worth the trip if you can manage .
